He was respected and well liked. However, he had to endure some bumps in the road that changed his personality. John Proctor’s character changed due to events that forced him to question his beliefs, judgments and emotions.
John Proctor’s beginning is not good. He is depicted as unfaithful and weak. John Proctor tells Abigail that he feels guilty over his affair.
